Reading the sky...
Free group card
A group card where every message becomes a star.
Start a card for someone, share one link, and everyone adds a message. Each one lights a real star in the sky over their city on their day. Free, no sign up.
How it works
- 1
Start the card. Their name, the occasion, a day and a city. That sky is the card.
- 2
Share one link. Drop it in the group chat, Slack or an email. Anyone can sign, no sign up.
- 3
Every message lights a star. The first takes the brightest star up that night, the next the second brightest, and so on.
- 4
Send them their sky. The gift link lights every star one message at a time. They can save it, or you can frame it.
An example
Emma’s card, nine friends, nine real stars.
The sky over New York at 9 pm on 15 August 1995, the night Emma was born.
Questions
Is the group card really free?
Yes. Starting a card, signing it and sending it cost nothing, and nobody needs an account. If you want to frame it, the print files are $14, once.
How many people can sign?
Up to 120. Each message takes its own real star, brightest first, in the order people sign.
Do people need to sign up to add a message?
No. They open the link, write a few words and add their first name.
Are the stars real?
Yes. The sky is drawn from a catalog of 5,298 real stars as they stood over the city you choose at 9 pm on the day you choose. The first message takes the brightest star up that night, often Sirius, Vega or Arcturus.
How do I give it to them?
When everyone has signed, send them the gift link by text, chat or email. It opens their sky and lights every star one message at a time, then they can read every message, save a picture or frame it.
Can I remove a message?
Yes. Whoever starts the card gets a private manage link and can remove any message from any device.
Who can see the card?
Only people with the link. Cards are never listed, searchable or shown anywhere else.
What do the $14 print files include?
A 2400 x 3200 poster of the sky with every name beside its star (up to 8 x 10.7 inches at 300 PPI), every message as matching print pages, a phone wallpaper and a story-size picture. It is digital: nothing is shipped.
Sending to one person? Send them their own sky, or find a keepsake to give.
