What are houses in astrology?
The twelve houses are sections of the sky, fixed to the exact time and place you were born. Where a sign describes the flavour of a planet, the house describes the part of life it shows up in. Your Sun sign says how you shine; the house it falls in says where. This is why two people born the same day can feel so different: their houses turn on the clock, and the clock does not stand still.
Read them like a story that circles the wheel. It opens with the self (the first house) and travels outward through what you own, how you think, where you belong, and how you love, all the way to the career at the top and the hidden inner world at the close. What are houses in astrology?
The houses are twelve sections of the sky, anchored to the exact time and place you were born. Where the signs describe how energy expresses itself, the houses describe where it plays out in your life: your money, your home, your relationships, your career. Together they turn a chart into a map of a real life.
How are astrological houses different from signs?
There are twelve of each, and they rhyme, but they are not the same. A sign is a flavour; a house is an arena. Your Sun sign says how you shine, and the house your Sun sits in says where you shine. You need your birth time to know your houses.
What are the angular, succedent and cadent houses?
The twelve houses fall into three groups of four. Angular houses (1, 4, 7, 10) are the most powerful and action-oriented. Succedent houses (2, 5, 8, 11) are about stabilising and holding. Cadent houses (3, 6, 9, 12) are about learning, adapting and processing.
Do I need my birth time to know my houses?
Yes. The houses rotate all the way around the chart over a single day, so even a couple of hours changes which sign sits on each cusp. That is why an exact birth time matters for a house-based reading.
