What is an eclipse season?

Twice a year, the Sun lines up with the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the path of the Sun, and for about five weeks the sky throws eclipses. They tend to arrive in pairs, usually one solar and one lunar around two weeks apart.

Astrologers read these windows as a kind of fast-forward. The change that might have taken its time can arrive all at once: news lands, chapters turn, and life nudges you toward the next thing whether or not you felt ready. It passes. What it reveals tends to stay.

Solar and lunar eclipses

Solar eclipse

Falls on a new moon, when the Moon slips in front of the Sun. It works like a beginning with the volume turned up: a door opens, a fresh chapter starts, and things can move faster than usual. Plant the seed, then let the dust settle before you judge it.

Lunar eclipse

Falls on a full moon, when the Earth's shadow crosses the Moon. It brings things to a head: a truth surfaces, a chapter closes, and something you have outgrown is ready to be released. Feelings run high, so be gentle with yourself and the people near you.

How to move through an eclipse

Three to lean into, three to ease off.

Rest and watch

Slow down and notice what surfaces. Eclipses often reveal more than they decide.

Journal what shifts

Write down the news, the feeling, the realisation. You will want the record later.

Release what is finished

A lunar eclipse in particular is a clean moment to let a chapter close.

Rush an irreversible call

Wait a few days past the peak if you can. The picture is still settling.

Eclipses, answered

When is the next eclipse?

The two cards at the top of this page read the real sky and show you the exact date of the next solar eclipse and the next lunar eclipse, along with how many days away each one is.

What is the difference between a solar and a lunar eclipse?

A solar eclipse happens at a new moon, when the Moon passes in front of the Sun. A lunar eclipse happens at a full moon, when the Earth's shadow falls across the Moon. Solar eclipses tend to open new chapters, and lunar eclipses tend to close them.

What is eclipse season?

A window of roughly five weeks, twice a year, when the geometry of the Sun and Moon lines up to allow eclipses. They arrive in pairs, usually one solar and one lunar about two weeks apart, and astrologers read the window as a stretch of accelerated change.

What does an eclipse mean in astrology?

A turning point. Solar eclipses mark beginnings and fresh starts, while lunar eclipses mark endings and revelations. Both feel a little more fated and fast-moving than an ordinary new or full moon.

What should you not do during an eclipse?

It is a gentler time to make a big, irreversible decision at the exact peak, simply because the full picture is still settling. Give it a few days, then choose with clear eyes.
